AO: I took this photograph in the McMillan Library (Nairobi CBD) on March 9, 2019 during a tour with Angela Wachuka, co-founder of Book Bunk, the organization tasked to restore three of Nairobi's oldest libraries. Book Bunk's homepage states:
"We imagine that public libraries can be steered to become more than just repositories, acting as sites of knowledge production, shared experiences, cultural leadership and information exchange. We see them as sites of heritage, public art and memory. Our formation as an entity is inspired by this core belief – that our shared spaces are more essential than ever to our collective Kenyan imagination."
This room was on the top floor of McMillan library and houses bound original print newspapers dating pre-independence.
