Critical Commentary

AO: This event flier was shared on our Research Data KE Working Group whatsapp by Aurelia Munene who captioned it with: "There have been discussions in the start-up space in Kenya where most of the well known digital start-ups are led/ owned by foreigners yet outside there they are potrayed as African companies. Emerging discussions have also been on funding bias, unequal venture funding practices and structural racism etc." This event is part of growing articulation within the tech space on race-based priviledge and structural inequality in global tech. It is interesting that this event is hosted by lawyers who ask: "Can regulation and policy fix the racist bias against African founders?"
